Celebrate February 14th Without Celebrating Valentine's Day
Another Valentine's Day
If you are tired of hearing all the Valentine's Day talk, you are not alone. Every year, Valentine's Day rolls around and reminds those of us that are single that once again, we are alone. It also reminds anyone in a relationship that he or she needs to think about buying another lame gift this year for Valentine's Day. But why? What do we do this to ourselves? Instead, how about we figure out other ways to celebrate February 14th without bothering to celebrate Valentine's Day?
I know you are asking yourself: "Well, what can I do this Valentine's Day that has absolutely nothing to do with Valentine's Day?" Well, I am glad you asked!
Go to work
I know you are thinking that is not cool. No one wants to go to work and that is not a celebration at all. That is so true! However, you've got to go there anyway since Valentine's Day is in the middle of the week, so you may as well pretend you enjoy it. After all, Valentine's Day isn't a real holiday or we would get to take off from work. So take that, Valentine's Day enthusiasts!

Stalk your exes
I seriously do not recommend doing this on Valentine's Day, but honestly, I know most of you are going to do that anyway, so I added it to the list. Take some time to visit your ex's Facebook, MySpace, and dating site profiles. Make sure to mock him whenever possible. If your ex has a new special someone in his or her life, make sure to make snide comments about that person's appearance. After all, your ex will never do better than you anyway!
Please keep in mind not to stalk your ex at work or at home. After all, there is nothing cool about getting a restaining order on February 14th... or any other day for that matter.
Celebrate other holidays
Did you know February 14th is Ferris Wheel Day and National Organ Donor Day? Forget about Valentine's Day! Of course you would rather celebrate Ferris Wheel Day. That sounds like so much fun! If you can find a ferris wheel in your area, go ride it that day. How about you sign up to become an organ donor on February 14th? Nothing is better than giving to gift of life to someone. Even better, maybe you can somehow celebrate both holidays at once. I am not sure how you'll do that, but be creative!
Celebrate Arizona!
Did you know Arizona became a state on February 14, 1912? No, I totally didn't know that either until I saw it on Wikipedia. So congrats, Arizona! Why not celebrate Arizona on February 14th? It is a pretty awesome state.
Celebrate Oregon!
Well, I'll be! Oregon also became a state on February 14th. However, Oregon was the 33rd state to join the union, so it actually became a state on February 14, 1859. So rock on, Oregon! You are a pretty cool state, too!
Celebrate your pets
Maybe you don't have a significant other in your life, or maybe you do but don't feel like dealing with him or her on February 14th. No worries! Spend Valentine's Day with your pets. Your pets love you unconditionally anyway, so why not take Spot for a walk? Maybe Missy would like to visit Petsmart and pick out a new toy. Perhaps your fish might like to try some new fish flake food. Why not take your pet skunk out on a leash and freak out your neighbors? The possibilities are unlimited!
Be nice to your parents
Aren't your parents usually the people that support you no matter what? Even if you've dumped 8 boyfriends in the past year, your parents still love you. Sure, they might question your morals and where they went wrong, but why not spend Valentine's Day with your parents? At least send them a nice card or something. If you play your cards right, you just might get a box of candy from them!
Sleep through it
If all else fails, just sleep through Valentine's Day. If you've recently been dumped or you are just tired of how annoying Valentine's Day can be, just sleep through the whole day. Who knows? I might just give that a try this year, too.
