Frozen Yogurt Addiction

If you'd told me a month ago I was going to be addicted to frozen yogurt, I would have said you were crazy. What can be so great about frozen yogurt? Surely it can't be better than ice cream. Surely regular Yoplait is good enough. Well, all of what I thought I knew about frozen yogurt was wrong. My name is Jeannie and I am a frozen yogurt addict. I owe my entire addiction to a new restaurant at the mall called Yolavie. I am not sure whether to love them or hate them for this new frozen yogurt craving I constantly experience.

Yolavie has been popping up all over the East Coast of the U.S. lately. My mall just got a Yolavie and, although I had my reservations about frozen yogurt, I had a particularly stressful day at work recently and I needed ice cream because of it. I walked by Yolavie and noticed all the beautiful yogurt graphics and all the toppings. Although I was convinced it would never be as good as ice cream, I went in anyway. And wow, was I ever wrong!

I do realize there was a Seinfeld episode about this very topic. Elaine thought her frozen yogurt was just "too good" and had it tested. However, I've been doing my own research on this place. I've been to their website and their frozen yogurt really is healthy depending on what you get. No matter what flavor you choose, all of their yogurt meets the live and active culture requirements set forth by the National Yogurt Association. Also, I have a friend who's lactose intolerant and can only eat yogurt, not ice cream. I recently introduced her to Yolavie (now she is addicted as well) and she is able to eat as much as she wants without any issues. So despite my disbelief, frozen yogurt can be as delicious as ice cream.

I am sure you are wondering, "Why am I rambling on about Yolavie? Are they paying me?" The answer is no. For that matter, they are not even giving me free frozen yogurt for writing this, although I can only dream that someday they will! I am writing this because many people have stomach issues and benefit from eating yogurt. I eat Yoplait everyday, but this stuff tastes way better. If you live in an area with a self service frozen yogurt restaurant like Yolavie, I highly recommend you pay them a visit. As if all of this information is not enough, let me give you five reasons you should eat at Yolavie.

1. Amazing Flavors

What appeals to me the most about Yolavie are the variety of flavors. I was sure I would walk in and find just vanilla and chocolate. Oh no! There are a number of interesting flavors like peach, red velvet, pistachio, cookies and cream, coconut, cheesecake, Reese's peanut butter, and many more. I've found my favorite flavor is the cake batter. It is a very sweet vanilla with a cake flavor. I don't know how they manage to make it cake flavored, but they do.

2. Self Service Frozen Yogurt

One of my other favorite aspects of Yolavie is the entire process is self service. Have you ever been at an ice cream parlor and ask for a sundae and the server never quite gets it right? Maybe you get too many nuts or too little syrup. At Yolavie, that doesn't happen.

There is a wall full of levers and each one has a photo with the name of the frozen yogurt listed over it. You take a bowl from the front of the restaurant and get the frozen yogurt yourself. You can mix and match as many flavors as you'd like. Be warned - this is when you might get carried away and your bowl may become full quickly.

After you've added your frozen yogurt, you can then add as many toppings as you'd like. There are a crazy amount of toppings, so try to limit yourself the first time. Once you've got everything in your bowl, you take it to the register and have it weighed. I believe the going rate in our restaurant is 49 cents per ounce. The first time I went to Yolavie, I paid over $7 for a bowl. Like I said, it is easy to get carried away during your first visit.

3. So Many Toppings, So Little Time

Oh, the toppings are wonderful at Yolavie. I never imagined there were so many options for toppings. If you like, you can go with healthy toppings. If you get the low calorie traditional yogurt flavor, you can add strawberry or kiwi toppings. You will be most proud of yourself! Now, if you are like me, let's get real about other toppings for your frozen yogurt.

Some of the many toppings you can pick from are: chocolate chip, brownie bites, cheesecake bites, Reese's peanut butter crumbles, gummy bears, sprinkles, chocolate turtles, gummy worms, peanuts, and much, much more! As if that is not enough, you can even add chocolate or caramel syrup.

4. It Is Delicious!

When you get to eat Yolavie's frozen yogurt, you will be impressed with the taste. You are never going to guess it is actually frozen yogurt and not ice cream. Also, it is soft serve frozen yogurt, too. I don't know about you, but I always prefer soft serve over the regular scoops of ice cream anyday.

It is hard to believe anything that delicious can be good for you. Mind you, in many instances, especially if you smother your yogurt in toppings, it might not be low calorie. However, you will still get the benefits of eating yogurt.

5. Yolavie Is Fun!

Yolavie is a really beautiful restaurant. It is ultra-modern looking with silver tables and cool graphics that light up. Our restaurant even just added a refrigerator with bottles of water in case you get thirsty. Most of all, it is fun!

For those of you that have children, this can be a fun experience for them. They can pick and choose which flavors they prefer and even pick the perfect topping for them. Families can eat inside the restaurant or venture out into the rest of the mall to eat their yogurt. It is actually a lot of fun for everyone.

I've seen people of all ages at the Yolavie in my mall, so I truly believe everyone can appreciate it. If you have a Yolavie in your area, I highly recommend giving it a try the next time you have the opportunity. It is a fun, new way to eat yogurt.
